In fact,
the ACF is a youth organisation,
sponsored by the Ministry of Defence
(ARMY), which offers young people
and cadet leaders many opportunities
to try exciting and adventurous
activities. The Army Cadet Force is
directly dependent on the commitment
of its volunteer cadet leaders. As a
Cadet leader you will need to put a
lot into the ACF, but you will get a
lot out.
At the
Cadet Training Centre we equip our
adults with the latest knowledge and
skills to cope with the challenges
facing youth leaders today. You can
also take advantage of professional
Army courses and skills like
canoeing, climbing and mountain
leadership. Or training for
recognised first aid qualifications,
vocational qualifications and the
Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Award.
After
training you will soon become part
of the management team of your
detachment with the opportunities to
move on to higher management with
your company and county. You will
find hidden strengths which you
never knew you had or even advance
your present strengths.
All
this, of course, is good for your CV
- and it won't be bad for your
wallet as you will be paid for up to
28 days service, which helps prevent
your voluntary work costing money.
At the end of the day it's not what
you receive but what you can give
which motivates ACF leaders. You
will also get the buzz of knowing
that you are helping guide young
people from your local community
along the right path for adult life.
