Durham. Dennis joined the detachment
in 1958 and has seen thousands of
young cadets through the books since
then, including his own son Kevin,
Dennis has attended over 5000 parade
nights. The night was made special
when nearly 30 past members of the
detachment turned up with out his
knowledge to wish him well and give
him a farewell gift. Dennis is a
well known figure in the area having
received a MBE for his services to
youth within the community.
One
of Dennis’s ex cadets now the
Training Major of Durham Army Cadet
Force Major Brian Kitching said
“Dennis is amazing the time, effort
and dedication that the man has put
in over the years for the youngsters
of Ushaw Moor and the surrounding
area is unbelievable. He will be
sadly missed and fondly remembered
by generations of army cadets past
and present. |
