Our doors are open….

Are you aged 12 or over?  Looking for something to do with your mates?  Enjoy being outdoors instead of stuck in front of the TV?  Do you want to learn first aid, navigation, field craft, skill at arms, and much more? Then Durham Army Cadet Force could be the place for you!

Houghton-Le-Spring Detachment is currently looking for potential Cadets to introduce to the Army Cadets.  If you’re into trying new things and want some adventure, then we think we could help you.

The Army Cadet Force is demanding - sometimes challenging. The ACF is rewarding. You get back far more than you put in. Confidence. Assertiveness. Stamina. Bravery. Leadership. Teamwork. Problem-solving. Decision-making. New skills. Unique experiences. The ACF is serious fun too.

Maybe you’re thinking of a career in the Armed Forces, and want to give it a try, or you fancy the TA but don’t know what to expect – then give us a try.  Whether you like military style activities or you’re into sports, rock-climbing, orienteering or many other activities, then we might have something for you.

It’s a big opportunity. Seize it and you’ll have great fun challenging yourself. Mentally and physically. Interested?

If you think we are for you and wish to join the Detachment why not try it out.  Just turn up at the Detachment (the address is in the link above) between 19:00 and 21:00 on a Tuesday and Thursday evening, and speak to one of our staff.

We hope to see you very soon!

AUO SJ Edgar

Detachment Commander
